This morning, the Washington Journal had the most biased coverage of
the electronic voting issue that I have ever seen on TV (Fox News &
CNN did a better job).
Paul deGregario, Chairman of the US Election Assistance Commission was
interviewed and some of Jim Dickson's (and no one else's) testimony
before the US Congress was played.
Please contact C-Span's Washington Journal producers:
journal@c-span.org
or call (202) 737-3220 and ask to leave a taped comment for the
Journal producers
and demand that they invite the other side to present the facts as
well and give them names and contact information for people to
interview...
These are some of the misleading nonsense said by DeGregario (without
rebuttal) this morning on C-Span's Washington Journal:
1. Electronic voting machines all have a paper trail and are auditable
(because a paper record of the electronic ballots can be printed
2. I have never been made aware of any voting machine being hacked
into. No evidence of vote fraud has ever been found - these computer
scientists have been working in "laboratories"...
3. The problem is with human factors, voters don't follow instructions...
4. All election officials are honorable people.
5. Transparency is important. I always encourage election officials to
be transparent...
6. printers and paper cause problems, with ink, paper jams, etc.
7. you can trust these touchscreen systems...
8. the machines are accurate... You can trust these systems...
Thank You.
